Mission Beach is a peninsula that spans
nearly 3 miles of ocean between Mission Bay to the east
and Pacific Beach to the north. It is popular for its
wide sandy beaches, miles of boardwalk and great surf.
There are three different areas referred to in Mission
Beach: North Mission Beach, South Mission Beach and
Mission Beach. Although there are no official
boundaries, North Mission is generally located north of
El Carmel Place. South Mission is generally located
south of San Fernando Place and Mission Beach is located
in between the two. Mission Beach is the home of Belmont
Park, which features the historic all wood “Giant
Dipper” roller coaster, known to locals as “The
Coaster.” Other popular attractions include an indoor
Olympic sized heated pool, arcade which has a
merry-go-round, bumper boats, and arcade games and the
Wave House were you can surf the man-made waves, enjoy
the outdoor bar, open-air barbecue restaurant, fire pits
and hammocks. The boardwalk at Mission Beach offers some
of the best people watching in all of San Diego! Enjoy
Jogging, biking, roller bladeing, or walking on the
miles of boardwalk that stretch from Mission Beach up to
Pacific Beach.
